Today is March 27th.
One quarter of the year has passed.
This past week we remembered my mother and step-father's anniversary on the 21st, my father's passing on the 25th and my niece's birthday on the 25th. My mom has been a widow longer than she was married to either my dad 13 years or to my step-dad 6 years. She is doing well. We are so blessed to live in the same town as my mother, brother, my hubby's mother and his two sisters. Today I am thankful for the closeness of family.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Ephesians 6:1-3

Thankfulness Thursday Week 12 of 2014
Today is March 20th.
Today I am thankful that my MIL has hearing aids. She has only had then for 10 days and we can feel and hear the difference. Her television is quite a bit quieter. My oldest was so excited to be able to sit in her room and talk to her and watch some TV with her without getting a headache. My hubby and I are in countdown mode for a special night for the two of us. Hope you have a good week.

Thankfulness Thursday Week 11 of 2014
Today is March 13th.
Did you read that? We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Thankful today for what lies ahead.
This song really spoke to me today.
Hope your week (and mine) goes well.
Happy St. Patrick's Day
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe
Hebrews 12:28

Thankfulness Thursday Week 10 of 2014
Today is March 6th.
Well I am finally feeling better and seem to have a better outlook on this year. My hubby was offered a part time job back in October at the Detention Center as a maintenance technician (his field he went to school and was trained for). He jumped at the chance to possibly move away from his county job and get back into his trade. Since he took that job we have been working to pay down debt, build some savings and plan a vacation. It has been hard - he has had one full 24 hours off a week. Working nights with the county and 3 days a week with the city is a lot. He was let go from that job last Monday. He is content with it, I am beginning to be. It hit me hard. The first thing I thought of was there goes the vacation we were planning to see my cousins and visit the Sonoma County Fair. Selfish I know. There have been several times this year where I have felt that I keep giving up the things I want - a new car, a vacation, a night out to name a few. Notice I said want. Want and need are two very different things. I need to spend time with my husband (and I do, that is part of why I am a stay at home wife and mother), I need to spend time with my boys, I need to pay bills, I need to grocery shop, I need to help take care of my MIL the list goes on. I mostly need time with the Lord.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
Today I am thankful that God does supply all my needs. He knows what is best for me and my family.

Sisters
As it states in my "about me" column I am the youngest in my hubby's family. I have one younger brother and my hubby has two older sisters and one older brother. There are seven years between my hubby and me and ten between his oldest sister and him. Once I started having children and the oldest sister moved into the same town as the rest of the family we started enjoying a monthly "Sister Lunch". This is a time we set aside one day a month (usually Saturday) to get together for a meal and visiting. Sometimes we shop, sometimes we have breakfast, sometimes we drive to another town, it is always a good time to bond. Since I live with 3 guys I really look forward to this girl time.
