Thankfulness Thursday Week 35 of 2014

Today is August 28th.

The past 3 weeks my oldest has been in band camp every day for 6 hours. Friday night we had a preview of what their competition marching program will be. It was wonderful. The next day we went up to Mt. Charleston for a family picnic. My hubby's 2 sisters, their husbands and his mother were all there. What a beautiful end to the summer. We ate junk food, took a hike and played Aggravation. So much fun. The boys started school this past Monday and it has been a whirlwind week. We are all looking forward to the 4 day weekend.

Me and the oldest on our hike.
Ready for instructions.

Today I am thankful for the opportunity that music provides for our children and for the way that music increases learning. I am also thankful for the wonderful cool (to us) summer we've had. Only a couple of 115 degree days and mostly in the low 100's.

Thankfulness Thursday Week 34 of 2014

Today is August 21st.

Yesterday we had a lot of rain come down in 30 minutes. Flash flood season is in full swing. Today the sun is shining and the air is clean. Thank you Lord for the rain and the rainbow.

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,  I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.  Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

Thankfulness Thursday Week 33 of 2014

Today is August 14th.

Yesterday was the anniversary of my hubby's great aunt Georgia Lou's death. She was a great Christian influence to my hubby. When he was a baby he threw up on her but it didn't stop her from proclaiming that if anything happened to his mother she wanted that baby. The hubby's mom and Georgia Lou were close in age and like sisters. Hubby spent a few vacations in Austin, Texas with Georgia Lou and once we were married we visited her three times once just us and then one with our first child and last with both children. She loved our boys and they loved her. Today I am thankful for the influence that Georgia Lou had on all of our lives.

Thankfulness Thursday Week 32 of 2014

Today is August 7th.

Today I am thankful that tonight is our monthly sister's get together. It has been 2 months since our last one and we are in need. So thankful for the sisters that I gained when I married my hubby.
